Lasentec® FBRM® and PVM® can be used together to track polymorphic and pseudo-polymorphic transitions where there is a shape change. For the CBZ-water system, FBRM® identified the onset of the transformation, quantified the kinetics of the transition and identified the endpoint of the process.
With Lasentec® FBRM® in-process measurement, it is possible to directly study the impact of process variables, such as temperature or agitation, on the transformation process. Information gathered at the small scale during process development can be used to improve process understanding and ensure rapid and effective scale-up. This technique may also be implemented in the production process to monitor the transformation during an aging step to ensure the complete transformation of one crystal form to another.References
